We have talked many times, about how taking care of your skin is a necessity for a great tan. Why not give the gift of beauty this holiday season? You can make your own natural moisturizers, scrubs, and bath soaks. I love getting handmade gifts like this because I love that someone took the time to come up with something thoughtful and they are something I look forward to after a long week or if I just want to treat myself one evening.

Body Polishing Sugar Scrub

1 cup granulated sugar

2 tbsp oil (almond, canola, avocado or olive oil)

Juice from lemon

Combine ingredients. Package in small Mason Jars and tie a pretty ribbon around the neck of the jar. Attach a tag with the name. A gift certificate for a VersaSpa spray tan would be a great addition to this gift. Add a note to the other side of the tag telling the recipient to use the scrub before the spray tan to get the best results.

Bath salts have been used for years as a soothing therapy for skin and achy muscles and joints. This next recipe is the perfect gift for a friend that needs to take some time and relax and friends that run and/or work out a lot. When I am training for a race, I have always said that the Epsom salt bath is the best part of a long run.

Basic Bath Salts

2 cups Epsom salts

6-7 drops essential oil of your choice (lavender and eucalyptus are always good choices)

Mix in large bowl and package in Mason jars just like the Body Polishing Sugar Scrub.

Milk is great for moisturizing skin and soothing itchy and irritated skin, but not practical for making up batches for gifts because of refrigeration issues, but this next recipe is an easy way to give your recipients the luxury of a milk bath.

Mineral Milk Bath

1 ½ cup dried milk (powdered, non-instant)

½-cup baking soda

6-10 drops of essential oil

Pour the milk and baking soda into a large jar, add the essential oil and cover tightly. Shake well to mix. Package the same as the above recipes.

The above recipes will make approximately one use, so if you are making several simple changes the ingredient amounts to accommodate the number you need. For example, if you need two gifts, then you would double the recipe and so on. I have found it is easier to just set aside one afternoon and just make everything at once. I also like to make a couple of extras to have on hand, just in case I need a last-minute gift.

Enjoy this holiday season and make it special. If you simply don’t have the time to make your own gifts, Tan Unique can help you with all your gift-giving needs and we will be happy to help you create a custom gift for all the special people in your life.
